Some bedrooms, particularly big ones, have huge blank walls. Unless you don’t mind huge blank walls, you probably want to create a point of interest in the room that makes it inviting. Given the many different materials that exist and the abundance of creative ideas, you can dress up that wall.
Paint and Murals
If you are really creative, you can use paint to create a mural. It doesn’t have to be really flashy. Something that is avant-garde or geometric can be really nice too. Remember, you are just trying to break up the blank wall space.
Wainscoting
This is wood panels applied to the lower half of a wall. It breaks up the wall space visually and there are lots of styles of wainscoting you can apply. Many of them can be quite decorative, too.
Wall Tiles
Wall tiles can be stick-on sticker type or actual porcelain tiles. Modern wall tiles can be very elaborate. The sticker type are quite colorful and provide lots of different patterns. It helps to explore all kinds to see what strikes your fancy. Just be aware that wall tiles of any kind are not so easily removed after you apply them.
Straight Accent Color
It may initially look strange to apply a single color to just one wall but if you plan it well, it looks great. A lot of homeowners place this striking accent color wall behind the headboards of their beds, which really draws attention to the bed area. Choose a color you and your partner really love and won’t regret applying to the wall.
The Headboard Is the Wall
Sometimes you can’t find the headboard for a bed you really like. That’s when you nail decorative boards to a bedroom wall and make it look like a headboard. The only catch is that you can’t ever move the bed or your “headboard” will look weird on a wall by itself with no bed against it.
